Beith Juniors 4-0 Cambuslang Rangers
Wednesday 10th May 2006
at Bellsdale Park
Cambuslang Rangers ended the season on a bum note as they were crushed 4-0 when they travelled to Beith last Wednesday Night. A disappointing end to what can only be described as a disappointing season.
The curtain finally dropped on the Somervell Parks Superleague stint and it might well be a few seasons before we see it again. With the financial restraints Scott Archer is undoubtedly going to find himself under it looks a very long shot to bounce straight back into the Superleague Set Up.
Archer made his feeling known at the clubs AGM but that was before the financial bombshell was delivered at his feet. it was going to be hard enough but with no new investment imminent it looks very bleak for Cambuslang Rangers.
Wednesday was a game that Cambuslang were looking to finish the season on a high but Beith are still going strong with a few more cup ties still to play so should have been the more tired side, but that wasn't the case as Cambuslang failed to put up a challenge.

Taylor and McAdam team Up
The signs were there as early as the 1st minute when Craig, unmarked, headed over from close range.
Cambuslang Rangers did make chances of their own, and good ones at that, but the strikers had another off night and chances were wasted. On 6 minutes a fine run by young Chris Faulds took him past a couple of Beith defenders but the shot came back off the bar, a real chance for Lang's top scorer this season (6). Beith missed another chance minutes later, this time it was Cameron who squandered the chance, heading over from 5 yards.
Lang's Gilroy had a half chance but he pulled his effort wide of the post. Cambuslang went close on the half hour mark and again Faulds was the player involved. This time his half volley went narrowly over the bar with the keeper a mere spectator.
The home side were forced into a change when MacNiven came off injured to be replaced by Deeney in the 32nd minute. Cambuslang fell behind soon after. Craig fired in a superb free kick on 36 minutes that Calder in the Lang goal could only stand and watch as it flew into the top corner.
Things got worse for the Lang as they fell 2 behind 4 minutes later. Cameron got Beith's second after a scramble in the box from a corner but a fine finish made sure it was net bound.

Calder Watches As Ball Flies Into Top corner
Minutes into the 2nd half an Lang keeper Calder was called into action, he saved well from a Craig drive. Cambuslang brought on McElhone for McCracken on 54 minutes. This was followed by another change when McAdam was hooked to be replaced with Trialist 1.
On the hour mark and Calder again saved Cambuslang this time from Hewitts shot. Cambuslang picked up a booking when Andrew Noble was yellow carded on 64 minutes.
With 20 minutes remaining Cambuslang last throw of the dice came when Gilroy was replaced by Trialist 2.
Minutes later and the game was finished. Beith scored a third when Craig beat the offside trap and a long range effort hit the back of the net in the 73rd minute.
Cambuslang conceded a 4th with the last kick of the ball when Calder fired an attempted clearance off the back of Hewitt and the ball fell kindly for Renwick who rolled the ball home to round off the disappointing evening.
