Cambuslang Rangers 0-3 petershill
Stagecoach Super 1st Division
Saturday 10th September
CAMBUSLANG Rangers crashed to yet
another defeat this time league leaders Petershill were the comfortable victors
by three goals to nil.
Things are not going well at
Somervell Park and a quick turnaround in form is badly needed if Cambuslang
Rangers are to remain in the super league set up, writes Jim Logan.
Skipper Andy Noble returned to the
side after missing the previous weeks defeat at Hurlford. Tyzcinski was dropped
from the squad, Stoddart and McAdam dropped to the bench. Jamie Coulter was
still missing too. Cambuslang fielded yet another trialist but showed very
little.
The opening 25 minutes were pretty
even with neither keeper troubled.
Cambuslang were the first to have
any real effort at goal and it came on 26 minutes. Menelaws saw his effort
easily saved though.
The league leaders should have
opened the scoring a minute later but Campbell headed wide from a good
position. The game burst into life on 30 minutes but it was for the wrong
reasons.
Wade received a yellow card after
a poor challenge on Peasie player and the Peasie players showed their anger at
the challenge by barging the Lang player - indeed, one player ran all of 30
yards and appeared to strike Wade but got away with it.
Lang sub, not even on the park
yet, McAdam was booked for pulling the Petershill player away from Wade.
Lang skipper Andrew Noble talked
his way into the ref's note book after complaining at the award of a soft free
kick, from the kick Petershill opened the scoring. McKenzie firing home from 25
yards and McGovern could do nothing about it.
Cambuslang went close on 40
minutes when Porter headed wide from close range. And the same player went
close a minute later this time his free kick whistled inches over.
Barely a minute into the second
half and Petershill had doubled their advantage. Again poor marking at set
pieces cost them dear as Campbell headed home from Dallas corner kick.
Cambuslang brought on Stoddart minutes later, and he replaced Burns.
The visitors were playing the
better stuff at this stage and Cambuslang were being pinned back. But the Lang
defence seemed capable of dealing with what Peasie were throwing at them, that
was until 85th minute when the visitors grabbed their 3rd of the game. Lang
were caught on the break and Dallas was on hand to head home from six yards
out...
