Vale of Leven 2-4 Cambuslang Rangers
Central Region 1st
Division
At
Cambuslang Rangers new management team of Gary Shillady and Archie
Malley got their partnership off to the best possible start when Lang collected
all 3 points in a fine 4-2 victory over Vale of Leven. There did not appear to
be any hangover from the shock exit of Scott archer who resigned last week.
There was even the threat of abandonment after a mindless home fan
threw Fireworks onto the field and police were called to restore order.
Cambuslang went about their business in an orderly manner and duly
collected a hard-fought 3 points and this was despite
playing the whole second half with only 10 men. Lang's Doyle the
unfortunate player to be red carded after what looked an accidental collision
with the home sides McKenzie.
Cambuslang welcomed back defender Brian Martin as his three game
suspension was now up and he took the place of the unfortunate Andrew Noble who
sat this one out. Wyatt started up front alongside Patrick as Faulds dropped to
the bench and Bannerman made way for Robertson in the middle of the park.

Doyle and McGuigan Combine |
McCracken Scored A Screamer |
It was the home side that looked the more threatening early on and
had a couple of decent chances in that spell. McKenzie fired over from the edge
of the box and then Montague tested Fusari.
Cambuslang weathered the early storm, went up the other end, and
opened the scoring on 15 minutes. Patrick sprung the offside trap and made his
way down the right hand side before crossing the ball along the 18-yard line
where McCracken was waiting and the Lang midfielder fired in a superb effort
into the top corner for a fine finish.
Vale almost levelled immediately when Crowhurst went close with a
back post header that went narrowly over. The visitors doubled their lead on 29
minutes when
Cambuslang had a great chance to increase their lead on 35
minutes. Patrick found himself one on one with the Vale keeper but the Lang man
failed to put his effort away as O'Donnell pulled off a fine save.
The game exploded on 40 minutes when Doyle sliding in for the ball
caught McKenzie in the chest. The whole Vale team then made a bee line for the
Lang defender and Brown grabbed Doyle by the throat right in front of the ref.
The ref showed Doyle the red card but amazingly only booked the Vale man for
his part in the proceedings.

5 minutes into the 2nd half and home side made a change. McKenzie
made way for Ward. Vale then picked up a silly booking when King was yellow
carded for a late challenge on
Cambuslang went close on 53 minutes when McCracken fired in
another decent effort only this time it went the wrong side of the post.
Cambuslang then introduced new boy Leon Kondol into the action, taking the
place of Wyatt. And the Lang Sub was involved immediately. He was floored with
a forearm to the back of the head but the ref only deemed this as a bookable
offence, another poor decision from the man in the middle.
Kondol then had a chance to open his account for the Lang but his
effort was well blocked and the ball came to Patrick but his effort was well
saved from a tight angle. The Visitors were having most of the play and with it
most of the chances none better though than Gary Reid's on 66 minutes. As the
ball was whipped in the Lang, defender got on the end of the cross but his
header flew inches over from 8 yards out and he knows he really should have
buried that.
Vale should have equalised on 79 minutes when McGowan appeared to
misjudge the flight of the ball into the box and it dropped at the feet of
McKenzie only 6 yards out but much to the relief of the travelling support the
Vale man pulled the shot wide of goal.

Robertson Helps Out At The Back |
Match Almost Abandoned Because Of
Mindless Thugs |
McCracken then had another shot from distance and this time the
keeper pulled of a terrific save. With 6 minutes remaining Cambuslang stretched
their lead when a mix up in the Vale defence resulted in Lees chesting the ball
back to his keeper but the goalie had came to collect the ball and it trundled
into the back of the net for an Own Goal. Langs Reid was yellow carded during
the celebrations as he was winding up the scorer.
The visitors then introduced fresh legs in the shape of Bannerman
and he replaced Robertson on 86 minutes. Lang also introduced Faulds in place
of Patrick in an effort to run down the clock. Cambuslang looked to have killed
off any fight back when they added a fourth on 90 minutes.
