Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 1-0 Cambuslang Rangers

Stagecoach Super League 1st Division

Saturday 23rd April

Cambuslang Rangers ended a quite dismal week in the clubs history with a narrow 1-0 loss away to Rob Roy. It was the Langs second outing since the departure of Andy Cunningham. 2 games 2 defeats does not make good reading.

Interim Manager Scott Archer was unable to lift the players as they seemed to be going through the motions in this one. There was very little on show for the Lang but is that such a surprise after the goings on at Somervell.

There are angry player, supporters and members of Cambuslang still unable to get to grips with the turmoil going on at Somervell park and it's going to take a big effort from everyone to get this club back on the rails.

Galloway and Carmichael were no showers for this one, McCrae was suspended and the long term injuries to Holmes, Doak, Young, McGregor and Tyczinski meant there were no less than 3 trialist listed in the Lang squad.

The match itself was a pretty drab encounter and the mood on the terracing was not much better. Things did look bright in the opening 5 minutes when Cambuslang struck the bar through Alan Paterson, but that was to be as good as it got for the visitors. A minute later and Brown went close but his lob flew over the bar with the keeper well out of the goal area.

On 15 minutes the home side were presented with an opportunity when McCarroll gave away possession cheaply inside his own half but keeper rowan was on hand to save McCarroll's blushes when he saved with his feet.

Cambuslang were forced into a change on the half hour mark, Paterson failed to recover from an earlier knock, he was replaced by Trialist 1. The first half came to an end with no goals.

H-T 0-0

Cambuslang lost another player when Fisher failed to appear after the interval and Trialist 2 took his spot. Cambuslang went close through Brown he headed narrowly over from a Burns corner kick. On the hour mark Rob Roy edged in front. A free kick was floated in and from about 2 yards out they headed home. Graham picked up a booking and he was quickly followed into the book by Burns. A minute later and it was 2 -0, another header flew past Rowan but luckily for the Lang defence the linesman was flagging for offside, a let off for the visitors. Cambuslang had Rowan to thank minutes later when he produced another fine stop. Lang lost another player through injury when Burns had to be helped from the filed and his spot was taken by Trialist 3.
