Cambuslang Rangers slumped to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of
Yoker Athletic at the weekend in what was a very disappointing performance. The
result also sees Cambuslang drop into the relegation zone, 3rd from bottom on
only 7 points from their opening 9 games. The 3 point deduction looking more
severe than it first looked.
With 3 sides relegated its going to take an enormous turnaround

There was only 1 change to Lang’s starting line up, Steven O'Neil

Doyle and McClafferty Clash |
Doyle Defensive Header |
The writing was on the wall as early as the second minute as
Cambuslang fell behind with the first attack of the game. Howie picked up a
loose ball just inside Lang penalty box and he seemed to scuff his shot goal
ward but it ended up in the back of the net to give the visitors a dream start.
Fusari had to be alert a minute later when McClafferty fired in an effort that
the Lang keeper did well to turn round the post for a corner kick. The first
name into the book was McGowan of Cambuslang for persistent fouling.
Cambuslang Rangers drew level with their first real effort at
goal. Reid picked up the ball just outside the box and fired a shot past the
despairing dive Thompson in Yokers goal. A fine strike that lifted Cambuslang.
Yoker his back 5 minutes later and regained the lead. The goal seemed a bit
fortunate to say the least when Dunne’s cross looped over Fusari and nestled in
the back of the net.

Yoker had 2 players yellow carded in quick succession at the start
of the second half, Dunne for a foul on Reid and then McClafferty for a trip on
Doyle. Cambuslang were unlucky not to draw level on 63 minutes. A superb effort
from Reid seemed to be heading into the back of the net but the ball seemed to
take a slight bobble off the turf and rattled off the post before being cleared
to Patrick and his cross back into the danger area came back off the face of
the crossbar and was then cleared. Dunne then tested Fusari at the other end
but the Lang keeper was equal to the shot and he saved well.

McGowan Sent Crashing |
McGowan With Saving Tackle |
Lang made a double change on 64 minutes. McCracken and Wyatt made
way for Nolan and Mullen. Cambuslang picked up a couple of bookings, Trialist
and Doyle the sinners. The visitors were reduced to 10 men after a scything
tackle on Reid by Easdale the player should have been straight red carded but
the ref elected to issue a 2nd yellow and then sent him off. Luckily for Lang
Reid seen the challenge coming or it could have been a nasty injury for the
Lang man. In a last ditch desperate attempt to salvage something, Cambuslang
threw on Brian Martin up front. He replaced
