Stagecoach Super 1st Division
Saturday 29th April
At Somervell Park
Cambuslang Rangers went down very easily by 4 goals to nil when Troon visited Somervell in Cambuslang's final home game of the season.
A disappointing performance from Cambuslang and the victory coupled with other results saw Troon survive the drop.
The home side made a couple of changes to the side that lost midweek at Petershill. MeElhone was given a rare start and O'Neil coming in for McKinnon who suffered a broken ankle in that gave v Petershill.
It wasn't long before Cambuslang found themselves behind. 9 minutes gone and Troon opened the scoring. Cambuslang failed to deal with a hopeful long ball into the box and the Troon striker had the easiest of chances and knocked the ball past Calder.
A couple of minutes later and it should have been two. Troon sprung the offside trap but Creaney shot well wide from a promising position. Cambuslang first attempt came from the boot of McCracken as he fired a 20 yarder goal ward but the slightest of touches from the Troon number 1 saw the ball go inches wide of the post. Soon after, Gilroy went close with a close range header but the Troon keeper saved it well.

Things went from bad to worse for the home side when Troon added a 3rd 4 minutes later. Another fine strike by Graham gave Calder no chance as the ball flew past him into the net.
Cambuslang replaced the young McElhone minutes later with the more experienced Gallagher taking over. But the move did little to turn the tide in this match as Cambuslang still struggled to create anything up front.
Cambuslang had defender Brian Martin to thank as he cleared Templeton's shot off the line.
3 minutes into the second half and Troon went 4 up. A shot from out wide was saved by Calder but the young keeper failed to hold it and presented the ball at the feet of Creaney who knocked home from 1 yard. Calders first real mistake since arriving at Cambuslang.

The game ended with a couple of bookings for the home side O'Neil and McCracken the guilty men.
Troon began celebrating a the final whistle as Saturday's 3 points along with Rob Roy's 8-1 hammering by Cambuslang's final opponents, Beith, saw them safe in the super league.
