Carluke rovers 4-1 Cambuslang Rangers
Stagecoach Central 2nd
Division
It was a dismal day at the office for Cambuslang Rangers last
weekend as they were well and truly beaten by Carluke Rovers by 4 goals to one.
A disappointing display all round from the local side who could have been on
the end of an even heavier defeat had keeper Smith not pulled off some fine
stops.
Lang new boy Kennedy was given a starting slot and Saturday also
seen the welcome return of Kevin Ogilvie, who missed the last few games through
injury.
As has been reported many times already this season, Cambuslang
started brightly enough but after 15 minutes they fell right out the game as
Carluke took control of the midfield and were cutting their way through the
Lang at every opportunity.

Lang Went Close But This Effort Came
Back Off Post |
New Boy Kennedy, Very Little Service
To Impress |
After 10 minutes Cambuslang went close with an effort from Kennedy
but his effort was well saved. A minute later and the same player had another
great chance to open the scoring but this time just as he was about to pull the
trigger a fine saving tackle cleared the ball off his tow. Cambuslang were
dominating the opening exchanges and went close again, this time it was a
superb ball into the box which was met by the head of Doak but his effort
flashed past the post. On the 20 minute mark Cambuslang should have made the
breakthrough but an almighty goalmouth scramble saw the ball cleared off the
line on 2 occasions as Lang were unable to force it home. That was as good as
it got for Cambuslang as Carluke came more and more into the match.
On 21 minutes Lang had keeper Smith to thank after a fine
save from the head of Carlukes attacker. Lang's Kavanagh picked up a booking
after disputing a poor call from the ref. Carluke then missed a glorious chance
to open the scoring. Jarvis missed a sitter from 6 yards out, a let off for the
visitors. Carluke eventually got the goal that had been coming for sometime
now. With 4 minute left of the half Lang were unable to clear their lines and
Jarvis was on hand to knock home from close range.
H-T 1-0
Cambuslang made a change 10 minutes into the half Brown and
Ogilvie were replaced with Smith and Trialist. On the hour mark Bishop picked
up a booking after a blatant swipe at Carlukes striker, lucky for him he didn't
make contact or the card may well have been a different colour. Carluke missed
another sitter and again Jarvis blasted wide from close range with the goal
gapping. Cambuslang were dealt a big blow when Hughes was red carded for foul
and abusive language at the ref. And a minute later Lang were level, rather
fortunate to be on level terms after Carluke shot themselves in the foot. Under
no pressure at all Carluke defender headed the ball back to his keeper but the
ball went over his head into the net.

Carluke Regain Lead From Spot |
Cambuslang revival was short lived as Carluke regained the lead
within 5 minutes and it all stemmed from a Lang corner. Possession gave away
too cheaply yet again and Carluke raced the length of the park and Lynch was
forced into conceding the spot kick after a trip on Jarvis. The ref had no
hesitation in pointing to the spot which was converted to give Carluke the lead
once more. With 2 minutes left it was all over. A mistake by Bishop gave the
ball away just outside the box and this allowed Jones in on Smith and he
slipped the ball through the legs of Smith and give Carluke a 3-1 lead. things
went from bad to worse in stoppage time a mistake from keeper Smith allowed
Carluke in to score a 4th.
