This is the reason for the benefit Match – By Gordon Young and Brian Sheldon

Billy has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease, which is a nervous debilitating condition which effects the muscular and nervous system. At this time there is no known cure but advances in medicine have discovered in some instances, survival length can be stabilised. Billy will retire from work at end of April as a direct consequence of his condition.

Brian and myself as former team mates contacted Billy and after discussions we agreed on a benefit match/dinner at this stage in his illness, rather than some time in the future when symptoms are not known.

It would be used as a get together of former players and a celebration of friendship between players and supporters of Billy's main clubs.

The Cambuslang team will be managed by Alex Love and all players used in Billy's 4 years have been contacted with a full list of everyone playing plus guest players published previous to the game.

Livingston Juniors (assisted by Pumpherston Juniors, Mac's other club) will be managed by Bobby Ramsey.

The Match itself will be a 3 p.m. kick off on Sunday 25th May at Somervell Park. With the dinner at 7p.m In Sweepers Function Hall complete with guest speakers and a raffle of football memorabilia rather than an auction.

Tickets will be priced at £25 for the dinner which will get you admission to the game and all players will pay this also.

Or for the match pay £2.00 at the gate on the day.

We are hoping for a big turn out from players and fans alike which will provide us with an opportunity to present Billy with a monetary gift which he can use at his bequest.

It is not a fund raiser for Motor Neurone unless anyone wants to contribute specifically.
