Brown Places On Transfer List

Cambuslang striker Paul Brown has been placed on the transfer list. It is unknown at this time the reason behind the listing but news as soon as we get it. Paul was in his 2nd spell at the club. He signed for Cambuslang from Rob Roy late last season but has failed to hit the dizzy heights reached in his first spell. Paul didn’t even make the 17 on Saturday v Shettleston and this may have been a deciding factor in the management’s decision to list him.

The Lang Online would like to wish Paul all the best wherever he ends up.

GLENS BOSS SUES LANG – From The Reformer

Smith seeks damages for loss of earnings over tackle

Rutherglen Glencairn co-manager Scott Smith is set to sue Cambuslang Rangers over the tackle that finished his career.

When the sides met for a sectional league cup tie in August last year, a challenge on Scott Smith by a Lang trialist resulted in the Glens man being carried from the pitch.

He was taken to hospital where it was found he had a double fracture in his right leg, and at the age of 38, he decided to call time on his career that had seen him at 5 different clubs during his 18 years in the Junior game.

Now, the Reformer understands that the Glens co-manager, who is self employed, is taking the action to court to cover loss of earnings due to the tackle.

When contacted by the Reformer, Scott confirmed he had asked his lawyers to proceed with the action, but was unwilling to comment any further.

Speaking at the time, Scott said of the injury,” I do now know the boy and I don't know what he was thinking about because there was no challenge to be made"

"I have been in the game long enough to know what a tackle is. It is deeply disappointing because if its a challenge and you come off 2nd best then you can accept it because that's part and parcel of the game.

"But he came in cowardly, from the side"

He later explained that he knew it was a serious injury. He said "You know right away. I had broken my ankle before that pain lasted for 10 seconds then went numb, this just kept on going"

"I would rather have ended my career on my own terms rather than someone else's"

Lang chairman Billy Miller said "We have received a letter on behalf of Scott Smith, which has been passed to our insurers."

Well where do I start?

I have stated numerous times, I don't think the tackle was malicious, but that's just my opinion.

Where does this leave players? You go into a tackle and break an opponents leg and your club gets sued?

Great way to treat a club that gave you a helping hand when looking for a ground!!

Indecently credit to the Lang committee for not kicking you out when the letter dropped on the doorstep.

Be interesting to here other views on this as I just cant see where the legal team are going to prove that Cambuslang are at fault for Scott Smiths broken leg?

New Number 2 Announced And Coyle Quits Somervell

Cambuslang Rangers have appointed a new assistant manager after Gary Shillady's exit from the club.
The new man will be former player Tam Miller.
Lang boss Alan Wardlaw has brought in his new man to replace Gary Shilliday, as they bid to bounce straight back to the central league first division after relegation last season.
Formerly manager of Muirend Amateurs, he was assistant at Neilston and East Kilbride Thistle, and more recently Saltcoats.
Alan said: “I considered about six different people. I spoke to them all, as I felt it was quite an extensive list.
“Everybody else was hands-on coaching orientated, which I like to think is one of my own stronger points, so was looking for someone else with other skills.
“Tam is excellent in his man-management and the way he gets on with players, so he’ll bring in a freshness.
“I feel with Tam on board, it will allow me more time to spend on the training ground.
“I took my time in making a decision, as I wanted someone who would also bring in a bit more experience than I have.
“He has a lot of contacts for new players we might otherwise miss out on. I’ll be speaking to three or four players he knows from his time in Ayrshire.
“All of the people I spoke to were perfectly capable and I would have been happy to have most of them on board, but I’ve looked beyond the walls, and decided on Tam.“
Tam said: “I’m really happy about it, as I played down at Cambuslang in the seventies.
“I’m really looking forward to helping get this club promoted in our first year, and get this club back up the leagues.
“I’m now the wrong side of 14 or 15 stone, so I’m quite happy to watch these things from the sidelines, while Alan and Stuart Taylor are out there on the training ground.
“I’ll be there to lend some of my experience to them, and bring some of my contacts too.
“When we’ve got very little money to spend, you have to rely on your contacts from the amateur scene and the under-21 ranks. My son plays for Kilbirnie, and some of the guys they brought in came from the under-21s and they had quite a successful year.
“Maybe that’s something we’ll have to look at ourselves, and hopefully we can bring in one or two experienced players as we try to go straight back up. It’s not an easy division to get out of.”
Meanwhile, Lang player Kevin Coyle has moved on from the club, despite re-signing last month.
Alan said: “Kevin Coyle will be moving to Blantyre Vics. He was a signed player for us for next season, but he felt it would be better to go elsewhere.
“But I’ve already got a replacement in mind, which will hopefully be taken care of in the next few days.
“I’ve been absolutely delighted about the way
Blantyre’s Willie Harvey has dealt with this - he asked my permission to speak to the player, and kept me fully abreast of all developments. It was very refreshing that he did everything the way it should be done.”
